Ingredients:
2 Cups - Salt (Coarse, Flake, or Himalayan)
3 TBSP - Fresh Rosemary
1 TBSP - Fresh Thyme
4 Each - Oranges
2 Each - Lemons
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 200º.
Pour salt into a large bowl.
Chop herbs and zest oranges and lemons.
Add herbs, zest, and juice from 2 oranges to the salt and stir to combine.
Pour onto rimmed baking sheet, spreading into a thin even layer.
Cook 15 minutes, stir, then return to oven and continue cooking for an additional 15 minutes or until dry.
Store in an airtight container.
Tips:
Be sure all ingredients are fully dried before storing to prevent mold.
When zesting citrus, only remove the outer layer of skin and not the pith (white part underneath).
Use to season meats, as a finishing salt, or even sprinkle on popcorn.
Get creative! Experiment with different citrus and herbs, such as lime and fresh mint. You can even use this as a salt scrub! Just add a carrier oil such as olive oil.
