Homemade "Nutella"

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup - Roasted Turkish Hazelnuts

  • 1 TBSP - Cocoa Powder

  • 12 Oz - Milk Chocolate Bars (or morsels)

  • 3 TBSP - Confectioners Sugar

  • 1/2 Tsp - Pure Vanilla Extract

  • 2 TBSP - Melted Coconut Oil

  • 1/2 Tsp - Salt

Preparation:

  1. Bring a small saucepan with about 1-2" of water to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer.

  2. Place a metal or glass bowl over the pot to create a double boiler, being sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.

  3. Add chocolate to the bowl and stir until it has completely melted. Note: if using bars, break into smaller pieces before adding to bowl.

  4. Once melted, remove from heat and set aside to slightly cool.

  5. Add hazelnuts to food processor and grind until they form a paste.

  6. Add cocoa powder, sugar, extract, oil, and salt and process until smooth.

  7. Add melted chocolate and combine.

  8. Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

  • To store, place mixture in a jar or container with a tight fitting lid at room temperature for about 2 weeks.

  • Coconut oil will cause the mixture to harden. Simply microwave a few seconds to return to a creamy consistency.

  • If you are unable to buy pre-roasted hazelnuts, you may use raw. Simply bake in a 350º oven for about 7-8 minutes. When finished, place roasted nuts in a clean kitchen towel and vigorously rub to remove skins.

  • Get creative! Place in a cute jar with a ribbon and tag for a great gift idea!
