Patriotic Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

• 3 TBSP - Butter, divided

• 6 Cups - Mini Marshmallows, divided

• 6 Cups - Rice Krispie Cereal, divided

• Red & Blue Gel Food Coloring

• Cooking spray

Preparation:

1. Spray an 8x8 pan with cooking spray.

2. In a microwave safe bowl, measure out 2 cups of marshmallows and 1 tablespoon of butter.

3. Microwave for 1 minute.

4. Add blue food coloring and stir to combine.

5. Add cereal and mix thoroughly.

6. Press into bottom of pan.

7. Clean bowl, then mix 2 cups of marshmallows with 1 tablespoon of butter.

8. Microwave for 1 minute, then stir and add cereal.

9. Press on top of blue layer.

10. Clean bowl and add remaining marshmallows and butter.

11. Microwave for 1 minute then add red food coloring and stir.

12. Add remaining cereal, stir to combine, then press on top of white layer.

13. Allow to cool for about an hour, then cut into 12 squares.

14. Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

• Avoid getting sticky! Use a rubber spatula sprayed with a bit of cooking spray to stir, then spray your hands a bit and press the mixture into the pan.

• Get creative! Serve with a dollop of vanilla frosting or even cut into fun shapes like stars using a cookie cutter!
