Ingredients:
3-4 Each - Apples, peeled and cored
3 TBSP - Butter, divided
1/4 Cup - Rolled Oats
1/4 Cup - Chopped Walnuts
1-1/2 TBSP - Brown Sugar, divided
2 TBSP - Cinnamon, divided
2 TSP - Nutmeg, divided
Salt
Preparation:
Melt 2 TBSP of butter in a pan over medium heat. Add apples, 1 TBSP of brown sugar, 1-1/2 TBSP of cinnamon, 1-1/2 TSP of nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
Stir together and cook until apples are tender.
Meanwhile, in a smaller pan, melt remaining butter over medium heat.
Add oats, nuts, and remaining spices.
Cook until oats are toasty, being careful not to burn.
Place apples in a bowl and top with oat topping.
Serve and enjoy!
Tips:
I prefer gala or granny smith apples, but use any apples on hand.
Don't have walnuts? Pecans or almonds work just fine!
Get creative! Instead of apples, try peaches. Top off with some of your favorite ice cream. I like vanilla or butter pecan...YUM!
